State v. MCA and Redgrave

Exigence:

Portia Redgrave is a sixteen year prodigy in the visual arts, especially photography. Her work displayed in several museums, such as the Met in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. She has recently been experimenting in Cindy Sherman-like works, trying in a series of four photographs to depict her feelings of vulnerability. One photograph in the series contains a graphic depiction of her genitals. The series was displayed at the MCA in Chicago, with a prominent warning as to its graphic content. Redgrave's parents consented to both the material's production and display.

Both Redgrave and the MCA have been convicted of child pornography under Illinois law; they appeal to the Supreme Court.
