This placement exam has nine questions that carry points. You will have a total of 75 minutes (one hour and 15 minutes) in which to complete the exam. If for any reason you stop taking the exam before you click the Submit button you will not be permitted to retake it at a later date. You should have easy access to a text editor as you take this exam. We expect you to use an editor, then copy and paste the code into this exam. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: First, you must use your "NetID" and associated password to take the exam. Second, you must be using a web browser which is capable of supporting both Java and Javascript, e.g. Netscape version 4.0 or above, or Internet Explorer version 4.0 or above. Once you click on the link to the exam below, you will be sent to the login page for Northwestern's Course Management System, and prompted to enter your new Northwestern NetID and associated password. Once that is entered, you will begin taking the exam, so make sure you are completely ready first. Your web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) will show the time remaining for your test period at the bottom of the window. (If your version of Internet Explorer is not displaying the bottom status bar, select View from the Internet Explorer menu, then select Status Bar.) If you do not press the final Submit button within the time allotted, your exam will be invalidated. Also, do not click on the "back" button once you've actually begun the exam; doing so will reset your browser timer back to the full 75 minutes, though this will be misleading, as it will not give you additional time for the exam. Should you have any questions at this point, send e-mail to c-riesbeck@northwestern.edu. Finally, we look forward to seeing you in the fall, and good luck on the exam!
