What is ASSITEJ/USA?

ASSITEJ/USA is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation founded in 1965, and is the United States Center for the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People. It is the only theatre organization in the U.S. which has the development of professional theatre for young audiences and international exchange as its primary mandates.

What does ASSITEJ/USA do?

ASSITEJ/USA promotes theatre for children and young adults by:

Advancing the prestige and visibility of theatre for young audiences;

Linking professional theatres, artists, managing and artistic directors and arts agencies in "common cause" to promote quality theatre for young people;

Sponsoring national and international festivals and forums and facilitating interchange among theatres and theatre artists;

Providing publications and information on professional theatre for youngs audiences throughout the world to the entire American theatre community; and

Representing the United States in the international community of theatre for young audiences as the U.S. Center of ASSITEJ/USA, one of fixty-six centers worldwide.
