Piven Theatre Workshop

The mission ofthe Piven Theatre Workshop is to offer programs of
study designed to accomodate young people and adults who want to enrich
their everyday lives through theatre study and practice, those who want to
prepare for the rigors of professional theatre, or working actors who want
to hone their skills and deepen their access to the wellsprings of their
talent. We believe the ideal function of theatre is indeed to comfort the
afflicted and afflict the comfortable. Our purpose with young people is to
focus their natural sense of play on the creative process of theatre.
Children are often natural people, but contrary to popular mythology, rarely
natural actors.
